James J. Holland, 88, of Fall River, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2021 at Carvalho Grove Nursing Home.
He was the son of the late William and Rose (Gangwich) Holland, the brother of the late John Holland and the uncle of David Roy, who he dearly loved.
He was a US Navy Veteran of the Korean War. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a sales executive for the James Bliss Co. in Boston. He loved football, baseball, old movies, bowling, playing cards and long Sunday rides with Sunday hats on. He was a fun, loving and extremely devoted to family. He was most happy when he showed generosity to those in need and was able to put others before himself. A man of great generosity, he showed empathy for others, not sympathy.
He is survived by his sister, Lorraine Roy of Westport, who meant the world to him. He is also survived by two nephews, Michael Roy and John Holland; four nieces, Susan Gagne, Marlene Souza, Deborah Ledoux and Lorrie Freitas who he cherished so much. He leaves behind many loving friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at Carvalho Grove Nursing Home and hospice for their compassion and care.
Private funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 So. Main St., Fall River. Online condolences at AuclairFuneralHome.com.
