James B. Doherty

James B. Doherty, 84, of 4700 No. Main St., Fall River and Tiverton, died Saturday, September 16, 2006 at Charlton Memorial Hospital.
He was the husband of Paula L. (Jackson) Doherty.
Born in Fall River, the son of the late James and Mae (Fox) Doherty, he lived in Fall River most of his life and in Tiverton for many years.
A graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School and Bradford Durfee Institute of Technology, he was employed by New England Telephone for 42 years.
An Army Air Corps veteran of WW II, he was a gunner in the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign.
He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, the Clover Club, the Fall River Country Club and the Fall River Senior Pitch Group.
Besides his wife of 56 years he is survived by
4 children, Brian Doherty and Kevin Doherty, both of Fall River, Sheila Foley and her husband Thomas of Cranston and Tiverton and Michael Doherty and his companion Thavisouk Malichansey of Providence;
3 granddaughters, Lauren, Meghan and Mary Kate Foley;
a brother, Paul C. Doherty and his wife Barbara of Fall River;
and nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late John F. Doherty and Edward T. "Ned" Doherty.
His funeral will be held Tuesday at 9:00 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in St. Joseph Church at 10:00 AM.
Cremation to follow.
Visitation, Monday 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM.
LARGE PARKING AREA and barrier-free entrance located at the rear of funeral home.
