J. Henry "Sarge" Simard

J. Henry "Sarge" Simard, 80, formerly of Tuttle St., Fall River, died Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at Sarah S. Brayton Nursing Care Center. A lifelong resident of Fall River, he was the son of the late Antonio and Alpheda (Lamontagne) Simard. He was employed by M & S Cement Block and Southcoast Pre-cast Concrete for many years. A WW II veteran and member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 486, the American Legion, Post 314 and the 63rd. Division Association, he served in the Army for 8 years and in the Massachusetts Army National Guard for 15 years. A member of Good Shepherd Parish, he was a recipient of the Marian Medal. He is survived by 4 sisters, Rhea Richard of North Providence, RI, Jacqueline Forand of Kingman, Arizona, Aldina Mello of Fall River and Jeanne Covel of Dighton and nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Roland Simard, Gerald Simard and Oscar Joubert. His funeral will be held Friday at 10:00 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in Good Shepherd Church at 11:00 AM. Burial, Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Visitation, Thursday 4:00 to 8:00 PM.
