Irene E. (Lescault) Kot

Irene E. (Lescault) Szynal Kot, 98, of Fall River, MA, passed into eternal life Wednesday, May 24, 2023.

She was the daughter of the late Henry and Eva (Gagnon) Lescault. She was the widow of the late Edward F. Szynal, Sr. and the late Matthew J. Kot. She was the mother of Edward F. Szynal, Jr. (wife Rose), the late Janet (Szynal) Koska (late husband John), and Sandra (Kot) Read (late husband Scott). She was the grandmother of Lorie Szynal Rich, Lisa Szynal Reitzas, Keriann Koska, Jason Read and Shane Read. She was the great grandmother of Adrian Rich, Noah Reitzas, Cassandra Rich (husband Wilde Pries) , Samuel Reitzas, Hanna Reitzas, and Scott Read. She was also the great-great-grandmother of Rose Mari Rich. She was the sister of the late Armand Lescault, the late Anita (Lescault) Viverios (late husband Louis), the late Bertha (Lescault) Fitzler (late husband John), the late Ernest Lescault (late wife Nancy), the late Muriel Lescault and the late Raymond Lescault.

She also leaves many nieces and nephews.

Irene worked for many years as a nurse's aide in the Fall River area. She was especially proud of her World War II employment at the Newport, Rhode Island Government Torpedo Station.

Irene was serious and devoted to her religion. She was keenly interested in current events and the world of politics.

But her greatest joy and comfort was the love and sharing time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation Friday, June 2, 2023 from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 South Main St. Fall River. (barrier-free entrance from the parking lot).

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated following at Saint Mary’s Cathedral, Spring St. Fall River, at 10:00 a.m.  Burial following at Notre Dame Cemetery.
