Irene (Lizotte) Binette Hurley, 89, of Fall River, widow of Leon "Bill" Binette and William Hurley, died Wednesday, December 31, 2008.
A summer resident of Westport for many years, she was a maid in a Newport mansion in her youth, later working in the garment industry. She was active in the St. Mary Cathedral and Espirito Santo parishes senior programs and enjoyed trips to Foxwoods Casino.
She leaves a son, Robert R. Binette (wife Ann Marie) of Fall River; a daughter, Phyllis Koohy (husband Robert) of Tiverton; grandchildren, Diane Tighe (husband Tom), Eileen McCarthy Mendonca (husband Steven), Jon Koohy (wife Jamie), Jeffrey Koohy (wife Nancy) and Jason Koohy (wife Erika); great-grandchildren, Patrick and Kathryn Tighe, Casey and Jack McCarthy and Amanda, Shawn and Noah Koohy; siblings, Robert Lizotte of East Providence, Adrien Lizotte of Shelton, CT, Lorraine Lapointe of The Villages, FL and Doris Garcia of New Bedford; stepchildren, William Hurley (wife Carol) of Lexington, Joyce Gendreau (husband Roger) of Swansea and Sharon Canuel of Fall River; step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Elaine Binette; the daughter of the late Napoleon and Anna (Remy) Lizotte and the sister of the late Jeannette Lanneville, Normand, Leon and Marcel Lizotte.
Her funeral will be held Saturday at 8:00 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in St. Theresa Church, Tiverton at 9:00 AM. Burial, Notre Dame Cemetery.
