Irene (Ferreira) Cyr

Irene Cyr, age 92, passed away peacefully on Thursday July 25th at home with her family by her side. She was always very elusive about her age and would sometimes say she was 37yrs. old because “if Jack Benny can say he’s 37 I can too!”.

She graduated from B.M.C. Durfee High School in June of 1949. Since she possessed  incredible business math skills, it was not surprising that she realized her dream of becoming a bookkeeper first at Bay City Motor Sales then progressing to office manager at Needlecraft Corporation in Fall River. The last position she held was Special Needs Paraprofessional at A.S. Letourneau Elementary school from 1986-1997, keeping fond memories of students and staff to date.

She is finally reunited with her beloved Husband Gerard J. Cyr who passed away in 2015. She is survived by daughter Lisa Pavao and her husband Steven Pavao, son David Cyr and fiancée Nicole Alves, grandchildren Cory Cyr and David Cyr Jr. (D.J.); Her sister Linda Lapointe, nephews Christopher Lapointe and Jon-Paul Lapointe as well as many other family members and friends whose lives she has touched.  She is predeceased by her parents Maria (Sophie) and Manuel Ferreira, sister Theresa Demeule, brother-in-law Raymond Demeule, sister-in-law Rena (Pat) Cyr and brother-in-law Paul Lapointe.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 30 at the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 So. Main St. Fall River, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.

Her  funeral will be held Wednesday, July 31, 9:00 AM from the funeral home, with a Funeral Mass at Holy Trinity Church, 351 Stafford Rd. Fall River, at 10:00 AM.
