Irene (Gagne) Fontaine Croteau, 97, of Fall River, formerly of Westport, widow of Francois Fontaine and Wilfred Croteau, died Wednesday, June 10, 2009. A former member of Royal Travelers and the Westport and Nocochoke Senior Citizens Clubs, she was employed by Quaker Fabrics and enjoyed cooking, reading and animals. She leaves stepchildren, Raymond Croteau of California, Denise and Norman Croteau and Lorraine Goyette, all of Florida, Diane Voisine and husband Leo of Freetown, Robert Croteau of Berkley and Paul Croteau of Warren; foster children, Fabie Emond Morrin, Eugene Emond, Eleanor, Rosemary and Margaret Shield and Richard and Henry Crevier; a sister, Alice Dube of Bristol, RI; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was the daughter of the late Oneida and Marie Louise (Levesque) Gagne; the sister of the late Emile and Aime Gagne; the foster mother of the late Agnes Emond Walters, Raymond Ferreira and Roger, Edward and Robert Emond and the beloved friend of the late Ludwig Kij. Her funeral will be held Saturday at 7:45 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in St. George Church, Westport at 9:00 AM. Burial, Notre Dame Cemetery. Visitation, Friday 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM. LARGE PARKING AREA and BARRIER-FREE ENTRANCE at the rear of funeral home.
