Idaletro C. Defaria

Idaletro C. DeFaria, 93, of Fall River, passed into eternal life Saturday, September 16, 2023 at home with his family by his side. He was the husband of the late Laura (Cabral) DeFaria.

Born in St.Michael, Azores, he was the son of the late Manuel Jose DeFaria and Alizra Tavares DeFaria  and had served in the Portuguese Army.

Idaletro and his late wife Laura were the owners of Faria’s Bakery on Columbia Street in Fall River, MA. He was employed with the construction crew who laid down the foundation of the Providence Civic Center in Providence, RI, presently the Amica Center.

They moved to the United States from Toronto, Canada in November of 1966 to be with extended family and establish a new life.

Farias, as he was called, loved playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, digging in the dirt,  flower and vegetable gardening, making wine, playing cards, farming, farm animals and cooking.

He was a member of the Santo Christo Club.

He was the father of Laura Bradley (husband John Bradley) and the father of David DeFaria (wife Tina DeFaria), and the father of Albert DeFaria and Michael DeFaria and was the father of the late Emanuel DeFaria and late Eleuterio DeFaria.

He was the grandfather of Chad Neubauer, Rachael DeFaria, Andrew DeFaria, Brittney Lambert, Kelly DeFaria, Abigail Bradley, Emma Bradley, Katherine Cifuentes, Brian DeFaria, Damon DeFaria, and the late Brandon DeFaria; the Great-Grandfather of 13; brother of Andriana Ferreira and the late Emanuela Amaral, Manuel Faria, Humberto Faria, Norman Faria, Eleuterio Faria.

A visitation will be held Friday, September 22, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 South Main St. Fall River.  Burial will be private.
