Ibrahim Batal

Ibrahim Batal, born 11-19-1911 in Damascus Syria died March 19, 2008. Husband of the late Marie Batal. Survived by daughter Nawal Mouded wife of Majed Mouded MD, and son George Batal, husband of May Batal. Also survived by grandsons Majed Mouded MD, Mark Mouded, Abraham Batal and Iyad Batal. Ibrahim was an accomplished International Lawyer. A graduate of Lebanon University, he practiced law for 62 years. He spoke several languages and achieved the highest honors in his field of studies. He received the Highest Honor Medal of appreciation for his work for Representation of Syria. This was presented by the President of Syria. He also obtained a Highest Honor Citation by his peers in the Bar Association. He was an advocate for the Catholic Church of Syria and was well known for his pro bono work for the poor and disadvantaged. Mr. Batal loved to read and write poetry and stories. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and peers. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Anthony of the Desert on Eastern Avenue, Fall River, Mass at 10:00 am on April 20, 2008.
