Herbert W. Gaughan, 88, of Tiverton, passed away peacefully at Rhode Island Veterans Home, Bristol, Rhode Island Saturday, September 17, 2022. He was the husband of Helen D. (Champagne) Gaughan. They shared 65 years of marriage. Herbert was employed by Globe Manufacturing Co. for 35 years.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. In his younger years Herbert was an avid sportsman who coached his sons in Holy Ghost C.Y.O. basketball and enjoyed watching them play.
His hobbies included golfing and antiquing. He and his wife enjoyed wintering in Florida.
Born in Cranston, he was the foster son of the late Manuel and Rose (Medas) Depoint, who raised him. He was the son of the late Joseph and Catherine (Regan) Gaughan.
Besides his wife, he leaves four sons, Mark Gaughan and Timothy Gaughan both of Tiverton, Christopher Gaughan (wife Peggy) of Westport and Daniel Gaughan (wife Wendy) of Bristol; two granddaughters, Cassandra and Lindsey; many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Joseph Gaughan, Catherine Roby, Grace Meunier, Thomas Gaughan, Martin Gaughan and James Gaughan.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 21, from 8:30 to 9:30 A.M. at the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 So. Main St. Fall River.
His Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, September 21, at 10:00 A.M. at Holy Ghost Church, Judson St. Tiverton, RI. Burial, Notre Dame Cemetery.
