Helena Mendelowska Chudzinska Stycharz, 85, of Fall River, passed away peacefully in her sleep Saturday, January 1, 2022. She was the widow of Eugene Stycharz and Franciszek Chudzinski. Born in Strzyzow, Poland, she was the daughter of the late Wladyslaw and Bronislawa (Bozek) Mendelowski.
Helena was fluent in four languages: Polish, Russian, Latin and English. She was a math and science teacher for 25 years. In 1976, she was awarded a gold medal by the President of Poland for her dedication and outstanding accomplishments in teaching. To most people, she was the smiley lady with white hair, gray smiling eyes and the nickname “Babci”.
She was the mother of the late Andrzej Chudzinski of Poland and Jolanta Chudzinska Nadeau Lamers (husband Wieslaw Lamers) of Fall River, MA;
Grandmother of Jessica (Nadeau) Houseman (husband Bryan) of NH, Holly (Nadeau) Holm (husband James) of FL, Joseph Nadeau (wife Brittany) of Fall River, MA, Marzena (Chudzinska) Kocurek and Eliza Chudzinska, both of Poland; Great-grandmother of Grayson and Aveline Houseman, Sebastian and Caspian Holm and Kuba Kocurek; Sister of the late Kazimierz Mendelowski; sister-in-law of Zofia Mendelowska of Poland.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 11:00 AM to 12 NOON with a funeral service at NOON at Auclair Funeral Home, 690 So. Main St. Fall River, MA. Burial will be private.
