Helen A. Maslanka

Col. Helen A. Maslanka, USAF, Ret., 90, of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, a native of Fall River, passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2017. A nurse, she served in the Air Force for 24 years. She was a member of the BMC Durfee High School, Class of 1945 and St. Luke's School of Nursing, New Bedford, Class of 1949. She was a world traveler. Colonel Maslanka was the daughter of the late Andrew and Hendryka (Wewiorski) Maslanka and the sister of the late Mitchell Maslanka, Jane Desruisseaux, Walter Maslanka and Domka Stys. She leaves 2 nephews, Harvey and Walter Desruisseaux, 3 nieces, Carol Mascia and Camille and Joyce Maslanka and dear friend and caretaker, Nancy O'Neill. Her funeral will be held Saturday at 9:30 AM from the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass at Blessed Trinity Polish National Catholic Church, 1340 Plymouth Ave. at 10:00 AM. Interment, with Full Military Honors at the Blessed Virgin Mary Polish National Catholic Cemetery. Visitation, Saturday morning prior to the funeral from 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM. Large parking area & barrier-free entrance at the rear of funeral home.
