Helen F. (Holleran) Gula

Helen Frances (Holleran) Gula, 72, of Fall River, died Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Catholic Memorial Home, surrounded by her loving family. She leaves a son, Marc Gula and his wife Heather of Houston, Texas; siblings, Nancy Medeiros (husband Jim), James Holleran, Phyllis Furtado (husband Manny) Mildred Shaughnessy (husband Michael), Sheila Holleran and Cheryl Mazurek (husband Louis), all of Fall River and many nieces and nephews. She was the daughter of the late James D. and Doris (O'Neil) Holleran and the sister of the late Judith Hathaway, Maureen Vincent, Dorothy Lavoie (late husband Nelson)and her twin brother William Holleran. Helen worked for the Fall River School Department in her early years, did various volunteer work and was a homemaker. She loved reading, going to the beach and taking "mini vacations" with her family and friends. Throughout her life Helen had a strong faith and shared the Gospel with those who were open to hear it. While in the nursing home over the past several years Helen cherished her visits with family and friends. She was a wonderful mother, sister and friend. She was loved. Her family extends a thank-you to the staff at the Fall River Jewish Home for the care and kindness they provided to Helen over the past 8 years. We extend a special thank-you to the staff at the Catholic Memorial Home and South Coast Hospice for the compassion, love and blessings they gave to Helen on her "journey home" . Her funeral will be held Tuesday at 9:00 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River with a funeral mass at St. Mary Cathedral at 10:00 AM. Burial, St. Patrick Cemetery. Visitation, Monday 4:00 to 8:00 PM. LARGE PARKING AREA and BARRIER-FREE ENTRANCE at the rear of funeral home.
