Guilbert J. "Gil" Belanger

October 18, 1929 — December 13, 2011

Guilbert J. "Gil" Belanger, 82, of Broadway, Fall River, husband of the late Jacqueline (Bernier) Belanger, died Tuesday, December 13, 2011. He was employed by Belanger and Sons Floor Surfacing and Globe Manufacturing. A Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War, he was the recipient of numerous decorations including two Purple Heart Medals. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Tiverton and the Disabled American Veterans, Fall River. He leaves two daughters, Debra Tavares and her husband Wayne of Fall River and Kathy Melanson-LePage and her husband Jeff of Somerset; grandchildren, Shannon Aguiar (husband Mark), Brianne Brouillard (husband Milton), Amy Mauricio (husband Brian), Sheena Golden (husband Glen), Amy Lynn Cloutier (husband Craig), Michael LePage and Cassey LePage; great-grandchildren, Max and Kane Aguiar, Jacoby and Kyra Brouillard, Spencer Golden and Elin Mauricio; and nieces and nephews. He was the grandfather of the late Matthew J. Melanson; the son of the late Theodore and Irene (Pelletier) Belanger; the brother of the late Alyre Belanger; and the father-in-law of the late Albert E. Melanson. His funeral will be held Saturday at 9:00 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in Holy Ghost Church, Tiverton at 10:00 AM. Burial, Notre Dame Cemetery. Visitation, Friday 4:00 to 8:00 PM. LARGE PARKING AREA and BARRIER-FREE ENTRANCE at the rear of funeral home.
