Gilbert D Guimond

Gilbert D. Guimond, 81, of Tiverton, husband of Jeannette (Levasseur) Guimond, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, February 7, 2012. The owner and operator of Guimond Farms Convenience Stores, he had previously worked with his father at Guimond Farms Dairy. He was a proud graduate of Msgr. Prevost High School and Bentley Business School. He served as the longest standing member of the board of directors for SSTAR. A lector at St. Theresa's Church, he was also a member of "Men of St. Joseph." An active member of the Tiverton community, he also sponsored numerous Tiverton Little League teams and Tiverton Junior Basketball Teams. Besides his wife of 54 years, he leaves five children, Suzanne M. Pavao and husband Kevin of Somerset, Arthur C. Guimond of Westport, Irene M. Souza and husband John of Tiverton, Margo M. Godfrey and husband Ken of Mystic, CT, and Gilbert D. "Gibby" Guimond, Jr. and wife Kathleen of Cotuit, MA; nine grandchildren, Kelsey Kolic, Grace Pavao, Joseph Guimond, Amanda and Ryan Bigelow, Tenley and Sam Godfrey, Leanne and Gibson Guimond; two step grandchildren, Lindsay Sousa and Jamie Souza; He was the son of the late Arthur C. and Eva A. (Martineau) Guimond and the brother of the late Arthur C. Guimond, Jr. Following cremation, a funeral mass celebrating his life will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Theresa Church, Stafford Rd.
