SFC Gil S. Rua, USARNG, Ret., 85, of Somerset, husband of Eileen (Hickey) Rua, entered into rest Tuesday, October 13, 2015. Sergeant First Class Rua served in the Army Occupational forces in Japan at the end of WW II and in the Massachusetts Army National Guard, for a total of 41 years. He was employed by Davol Rubber Inc., was a member of the VFW, Somerset and enjoyed cooking and gardening. Besides his wife of 62 years, he leaves seven children, Gail Marum (husband Michael) of Westport, Gary Rua (late wife Donna), Karen Ouellette (husband Paul), Brian Rua and Michael Rua (wife Denise) all of Fall River, Joan Rua of Middletown, RI and Nancy Rua-Lowney of Bristol, RI; grandchildren, John Medeiros, Cara, Kyle and Kristen Marum, Kimberly, Brian, Shannon, Randy, Ellis and Austine Rua, Jamie Desmarais, Heather and Matthew Ouellette, Fawn Correia, Samantha Ray, Jeffrey Murray and David Lowney; 11 great-grandchildren, sisters, Vangie Costa and Dorothy Arruda, both of Fall River and nieces and nephews. He was the son of the late Amorin and Caroline (Melo) Rua and the brother of the late Mary, Olive and Sophie. His funeral service will be held Friday at 11:30 a.m. at the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, Ma. Burial, Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, Ma. Visitation, Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Large parking area & barrier-free entrance at the rear of funeral home.
