Gertrude J. (Ledoux) Ouellette

January 17, 1922 — July 9, 2012

Gertrude J. (LeDoux) Ouellette, 90, formerly of Tiverton and Fall River, widow of Russell C. Ouellette, Sr., died Monday, July 9, 2012. Mrs. Ouellette and her late husband operated the former Professional Pharmacy. A licensed real estate broker, she was a graduate and National Honor Society member of BMC Durfee High School and graduate of Bradford Durfee Technical Institute, now UMass-Dartmouth. She was a board member of the former Union Hospital and chaired many committees, a member of numerous associations including, Charlton Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Friends of Saint Anne's Hospital, Fall River Women's Club, the Fall River and Tiverton Garden clubs, having won many awards, American Contract Bridge League, where she played competitively, Fall River Country Club where she won many tournaments, New Bedford Country Club where she served on the Board of Governors and won many tournaments, and past president of the Women's Golf Assn. and Exchange Club of Fall River, She leaves two children, Elizabeth O. Maltby and her husband Thomas W. of New York City and Old Forge, NY, and Russell C. Ouellette, Jr. of Fall River; a granddaughter, Robyn C. McCarthy; siblings, Blanche Haws of Wilmington, DE, and Paul LeDoux of New Bedford; and nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Joanne McCarthy; the daughter of the late Arthur and Marie Anne (Phenix) LeDoux; and the sister of the late Lorraine Gagne-Lapointe, Norman Ledoux, and Concorde Lachance. Her funeral will be held Thursday at 10:00 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in St. Christopher Church, Tiverton, at 11:00 AM. Entombment, Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation, Thursday morning prior to the funeral from 9:00 to 10:00 AM. LARGE PARKING AREA and BARRIER-FREE ENTRANCE at the rear of funeral home.
