Gertrude J. "Trudy" (Lagasse) DuPont, 81, of Fall River, died unexpectedly, Saturday, May 13, 2006.
She was the wife of retired Fall River Fire Department Lieutenant Lionel L. "Zip" DuPont.
Born in Fall River, the daughter of the late Armand and Edna (Dussault) Lagasse, she lived in Fall River most of her life.
A graduate of the former Jesus Mary Academy, she was an employee of the Naval War College, Newport, a Notre Dame Cemetery secretary for many years and a Shaklee Products distributor for the past 25 years.
A St. Jean Baptiste Parish and Holy Trinity Parish eucharistic minister, CCD teacher and Marian Medal recipient, she was involved with the Cursillo Movement and was a member of the Bread of Life Prayer Group for many years.
Her lifelong passion was writing a recently completed musical about her family.
Besides her husband of 62 years, she is survived by
her mother-in-law Jeannette DuPont of Fall River;
3 daughters, Mary Rose "Rosie" Booth and her husband John of Cary, NC, Jeanne Ducharme and her husband Fred and Diane Bernier and her husband Rev. Robert, all of Somerset;
4 sons, Robert DuPont of San Francisco, CA, Gerry DuPont and Nancy Wood of So. Dartmouth, Ronald DuPont of So. Portland, ME and Marc DuPont and his wife Eileen of Tiverton;
2 sisters, Cecile Phillips of Fall River and Vivianne Geary of Dunkirk, MD;
a brother, Ed "Lefty" Lagasse of Dunnellon, FL;
16 grandchildren, Suzanne Griffin, Christine Grier, Mariette Booth, Lisa Taub, Trisha Maguire, Fred, Tom and Danielle Ducharme, Steve, Ryan, Nicholas and Brianna DuPont, Carolyn Gloster, Jacqueline Varao and Jeffrey and Michelle Bernier;
9 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Henri Lagasse.
Her funeral will be held Tuesday at 11:00 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in Holy Trinity Church at 12:00 NOON.
Burial,Notre Dame Cemetery.
Calling hours Monday 5:00 to 8:00 PM.
