Gerard I. Duquette, 83, of California St., Fall River, husband of Lucille B. (Pineault) Duquette, died Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at St. Anne's Hospital. A graduate of Msgr. Prevost High School, he served in the 24th. Army Division in Japan, and was Vice President, Commercial Loan Officer at Durfee Attleboro Bank, retiring in 1991. He attended University of RI, and studied banking at Ball State University, Williams College and the University of Oklahoma's National Commercial Lending Graduate School. He was a member of the Holy Name Society of Notre Dame Parish, youth group volunteer, lector and Eucharistic Minister and Marian Medal recipient; Past President, and Treasurer of Club Richelieu, a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Tiverton, and a member of L'Association Francophone and the Franco American Civic League. He was a former member of the Robert Morris Assn.; St. Anne's Hospital Advisory Board, and Candlelight Gala Co-chairman; Bishop Connolly HS Board of Directors, Century Club Treasurer and Annual Auction Chairman; Assistant Treasurer of the Massasoit Council, Boy Scouts of America; United Way Board of Directors and Lantern Society member; a member of the Chamber of Commerce and a former Fall River Airport Commissioner. Besides his wife of 60 years, he leaves, a son, Marc A. Duquette and his wife Susan of Deerfield, NH, a daughter-in-law Linda Duquette of Fredericksburg, VA; siblings, Rhea Dugan of Milton and Alice Brisson of New Bedford; and many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Robert G. Duquette, the son of the late Wilfrid and Alphonsine (Migneault) Duquette, and the brother of the late Cecile Anctil and Aime and Armand Duquette. His funeral will be held Saturday at 9:00 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in Notre Dame Church at 10:00 AM. Burial, Notre Dame Cemetery. Visitation, Friday 4:00 to 7:00 PM. LARGE PARKING AREA and BARRIER-FREE ENTRANCE at the rear of funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dominican Sisters of the Presentation, 3012 Elm St., Dighton MA 02715, to further their efforts of care.
