Gerald Rogers, 90, a devoted husband, passed away on April 12, 2025, at Hathaway Manor. He was born on February 12, 1935, in New Bedford.
A graduate of Fairhaven High School, Gerald began his employment in the construction field and then transitioned to being a Security Officer at Southern Massachusetts University. His dedication to his work was evident throughout his life, marked by a steadfast commitment to ensuring the safety and security of those around him.
Gerald carried the pride of an Air Force Veteran, having honorably served during the Korean War.
In his earlier years, Gerald was a talented boxer, a passion that showcased both his physical capability and competitive spirit.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl (Miller) Rogers, with whom he spent 53 happy years; his brothers, James and Thomas Rogers; sisters-in-law, Sharon Nichols (husband Robert), Janet Miller (life partner Romona Turcotte, and Carlene Miller; and several nieces and nephews.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, John and Anna (Freeman) Rogers, and his sister, Betty Ann Stallings.
