Gary Dube

November 10, 1951 — February 11, 2024

Somerset

Gary G. Dube, 72, of Somerset, passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Beverly (Ackley) Dube.

Graduated from Somerset High School in 1969, Gary went on to attend Southern Massachusetts University for his B.A.  Psychology, Assumption University for his Masters in Psychology, and Nova University for his Ph. D. in Clinical Psychology.

He worked as a forensic psychologist for over 42 years, working at McLean hospital, Center for Health and Development, Justice Resource Institute (JRI), and Judge Rotenberg Center (JRC). He was the Program Director for Juvenile Court Clinic Program at JRI from 1996 until his retirement in 2021. He continued to be a private consultant at JRC after his retirement.

His accomplishments are extensive, but some of his most recent consist of an Official Citation from the Massachusetts State Senate recognizing 40 years of dedicated service and expertise in the field of Forensic Services with the Court Clinics and the Department of Mental Health. He also received The Rebecca Pries Indispensable Friend Award for his extraordinary leadership, zealous advocacy and enduring commitment to helping thousands of vulnerable children and families in Massachusetts.

Growing up, Gary played ice hockey recreationally and in a local league, being proud of his time as a goalie, and as a right-fielder in a local softball league. He was a loyal Boston sports fan, but his dedication and love for the New England Patriots trumped all. Throughout his life, he enjoyed camping during the warm months with friends and family, taking the opportunity to enjoy nature and fishing. He has always loved animals and never lived in a home without pets. A dog person at heart, walking the family dog around the neighborhood and through woods was always something he looked forward to weekly. But most of all, Gary loved all the opportunities he got to spend time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Besides his wife, Gary also leaves his two sons, Eric Dube (wife Shara), and Matthew Dube (wife Julia); his grandchildren, Alexis Dube, Donovan Anderson, Riley Dube, and Arya Dube; his brother, Frederick Dube (wife Christine);

his son-in-law, Christopher Anderson; his brother-in-law, Brian Ackley (Terry Dumphey); and his sister-in-law, Brenda Baumann (husband Robert).

He was the father of the late Lisa Anderson; son of the late Henry Richard and Herta C. (Schmidl) Dube; and brother of the late Ronald Dube.
