Francisco F. "Frank" Cabral, 60, of Fall River, died at home, Thursday, May 3, 2007, following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was the husband of Irene L. (Patenaude) Cabral.
A lifelong resident of Fall River, he was the son of the late Francisco and Irene (Thibault) Cabral.
A graduate of Diman Regional Vocational High School, class of 1964, he was an electrical contractor for many years and later was a City of Fall River electrical inspector, retiring due to illness. He was a former owner of Only Crusin Travel Agency.
An Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War, he served with the 1611th. Transportation Squadron and Color Guard.
A member of the Lions Club, he was the recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award, the highest honor for a lion. He was a former member of the Diman Regional Vocational Advisory Board, a Saint Anne Hospital and Michael's Fund volunteer, a Quequechan Club public relations director, a Holy Trinity Parish lector, the founder of Southcoast Pulmonary Fibrosis Support Group.
A July 10, 2005 lung transplant recipient, he enjoyed time with his grandchildren, playing organ and guitar, painting and woodworking.
Besides his wife of 38 years, he is survived by a son, Timothy F. Cabral and his wife Kerri of Swansea;
a daughter, Lisa A. Cordeiro of Fall River;
5 grandchildren, Kerri and Kyle Cordeiro and Karissa, Timmy and Tyler Cabral;
4 sisters, Madeline "Midge" Petrillo of Boothwyn, PA, Lorraine Grenier of Torrance, CA, L. Nancy Rezendes of Swansea and Irene "Franny" Mello of San Diego, CA
and nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Dolores Murphy, Joseph "Eddy" and Douglas Cabral.
His funeral will be held Monday at 9:00 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in Holy Trinity Church at 10:00 AM.
Burial, Notre Dame Cemetery.
Visitation, Sunday 5:00 to 8:00 PM.
LARGE PARKING AREA and barrier-free entrance at the rear of funeral home.
