Fernand C. E. Auclair

Fernand C. E. Auclair, 92, of "The Meadows," 3200 County St., Somerset, formerly of Riverside Ave., husband of the late Jeanne "Joan" (Bilodeau) Auclair, died Friday, January 14, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. He owned and operated Auclair's Market, Brightman St., Fall River and County St., Somerset for 37 years, and was member of the Board of Directors of the Fall River Grocers' Association. He served in the Navy during WW II and upon his return, he married his sweetheart, Joan. He was a graduate of Thibodeau Business College and a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Louis de France Parish in Swansea. He leaves seven children, Louise J. Auclair (formerly Amaral), Robert B. "Bobby" Auclair, Fernand C. ("Skip") Auclair, Jr. (wife Barbara), Denis J. Auclair (wife Dorothy), all of Somerset, Judith A. Hodge (husband Paul) of Seekonk, Marie A. Panek (husband Paul) of Reading, MA and David J. Auclair (wife Evangelina) of Rehoboth. He also leaves grandchildren, Jared and Justin Amaral and Vanessa (Amaral) Everett, Megan (Auclair) Soucy and Daniel Auclair, Joseph and Matthew Auclair, Brendan, Brian and Ashley Hodge, Louis and Amelia Panek and Heidi Charest; great-grandchildren, Nora Everett, Brogi Amaral and Leona Hodge; siblings, Idola Fairtile of Tiverton, Colette Desmarais of Portsmouth, RI and Paul H. Auclair of Bristol, RI; and nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late infant Diane Auclair, the son of the late Francois Xavier and Valeda (LeBoeuf) Auclair and the brother of the late Gertrude Mercier and Robert and George Auclair. His funeral will be held Monday at 8:45 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in St. Louis de France Church, Swansea, at 10:00 AM. Burial private.
