Everett Martin

August 30, 1929 — January 25, 2015

Everett Martin, age 85, of Fall River passed away on January 25, 2015 in New Bedford after battling Alzheimer's Disease. He was the husband of Annette (Vaillancourt) for 62 years, and the son of the late Jesse and Mary (Pevide) Martin. During the Korean War, Everett served in the Marine Corps Reserve. He was a cutter in the textile industry and worked at Essex Manufacturing as well as other union shops during his career. A graduate of Diman Vocational High School, he was a member of the Fall River Power Squadron and the Over the Hill Club. Everett was a parishioner of Holy Name Church, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. While he had his health, he was an enthusiastic vegetable gardener who spent much of retirement working outside. Grampy also enjoyed spending time at home with his family, especially his grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children Audrey T. Vieira and her husband Michael J. of Swansea, Gregory Martin and wife Sally (Petisca) of Fall River, and his four grandchildren Anne (Vieira) Lachance and her husband Alan, Jonathan Vieira of Swansea, Sarah Martin and Benjamin Martin of Fall River. Everett is also survived by his sister Theresa (Martin) Williams of New Hampshire and his brother Jesse and his wife Joyce of Fall River, his sisters-in-law Patricia Martin and Madelyn Martin, as well as several nieces and nephews. In the span of a year, he was predeceased by his brothers Vincent Martin and David Martin and his brother-in-law, William Williams. Everett's funeral will be held on Thursday, February 5 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Name Church on Hanover Street in Fall River. Friends and family are invited to join the family in prayer at Mass, or to visit on Wednesday, February 4 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Auclair Funeral Home on South Main Street in Fall River.
