Emilien L. J. "Mel" Gagne

June 6, 1935 — February 26, 2012

Emilien L. J. "Mel" Gagne, of Bond St., Westport MA, husband of the late Lorraine (Roy) Gagne, passed away peacefully in the early hours of February 26, 2012. An Air Force veteran, Mel was a store and district manager for Shaw's Supermarkets for many years. He was also a member of the Over the Hill Club. Mel meant so much to everyone that he touched in his life and will be deeply and sadly missed by his friends, family & colleagues. He leaves behind his five children, Deborah Giblin and her husband Christopher of Dartmouth, Melanie Astle and Michelle Peixoto both of Westport, Robert Gagne of Milford, Richard Gagne and his wife Dawn Young of Westport; grandchildren Christopher and Cayla Giblin, Deke, Lindsay and Alexandria Astle, Victoria and Kailee Peixoto and Laryssa Gagne; siblings Rita Pelissier and Jacqueline McGillick both of Somerset, and Albert Gagne of Assonet. He was the son of the late Albert and Doria (Charrette) Gagne. Also survived by extended family Irene Roy of Clinton CT, Clair Cabelus of Fall River, Jeanne Roy of New York, Roland Roy of Fall River and Virginia Greenzang of Brookline MA. His funeral will be held Wednesday at 10:30am from the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 South Main St, Fall River, with a funeral mass in Notre Dame Church, Fall River, at 11:30am. Burial at Notre Dame Cemetery. Visitation, Tuesday 4-8pm. Large parking area and barrier free entrance at the rear of the funeral home. Donations, in lieu of flowers, can be sent to Southcoast Hospice, 20 Mill Rd, Fairhaven MA 02719 in his memory.
