Elias Louis Saber, of Fall River, died on Sunday, February 21, after a courageous battle with kidney disease. He was the loving husband of Alice Saber since their marriage on August 25, 1950. Son of the late Charles and Lena Saber, Mr. Saber was a lifelong resident of Fall River. After graduating from Durfee High School, he served in the US Army with the Military Police in Augsburg, Germany. He attended Bridgewater State College and SMTI. Mr. Saber worked for many years in production management, at Harvey Probber Company in Fall River and at Barrows Industries in Providence, RI. With his family, Mr. Saber also owned and operated several area businesses, including Saber Oil, The Surfside at Horseneck Beach, Kalco Aluminum Products, and Village Coin Laundry. He was a member of Calvary United Presbyterian Church, where he was an ordained Elder and member of Session. A 32nd degree Mason in both Scottish and York rites, he was a member of Mount Hope Lodge AF & AM for over 50 years. In addition to his wife, Mr. Saber is survived by his daughter, Attorney April L. Saber-Assad and her husband Attorney David M. Assad, of Fall River; his son, Mark J. Saber, of Fairfax, VA; his daughter-in-law Jean Saber; his grandchildren, Samuel Assad, Jillian and Gavin Donaldson, Alissa Assad, and Alexander Saber; his sisters and brothers, Edna (Mrs. Ted) Smith, Charles and Rosemary Saber, Freda (Mrs. Samuel) Thomas, and Gabrielle and Terry Tanber; and many beloved family and friends. His funeral will be on Wednesday, February 24, at 11:00 AM at Calvary United Presbyterian Church, 216 Harrison Street, Fall River, MA, preceded by visiting hours at the church from 9:00 to 11:00 AM. The family will welcome visitors at their home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00. In lieu of flowers, donations in Louie's memory may be made to Calvary United Presbyterian Church, PO Box 4101, Fall River, MA 02723. Funeral arrangements entrusted to AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME.
