Edward Mello, Frpd, Ret.

Edward Mello, FRPD, Ret., 91, of Fall River, loving husband of the late Alberta (Labossiere) Mello, passed away peacefully, at home, surrounded by his family, Tuesday, November 5, 2013. A Coast Guard veteran of WW II, he was a 29 year member of the Fall River Police Department, retiring in 1980. He enjoyed being with his family, camping and watching sports. The father of the late Gary E. Mello and the son of the late Seraphin and Virginia (Moniz) Mello, he leaves, a son, Douglas Mello and his wife Cheryl of Fall River; grandchildren, Scott G. Mello, Sheri Petit and her husband Robert, Chad Ramos and Dylan Ramos; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Marissa and Jasmine Mello and Madison, Robby and Nolan Petit and nieces and nephews. His funeral was private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Southcoast Hospice-VNA, 200 Mill Rd., Fairhaven MA 02719.
