Edward Ronald Remy, 87, formerly of Fall River, Bourne, Pawtucket, Swansea and New Hampshire passed away on October 26, 2022.
Ed was a Navy veteran who proudly served his country enlisting right out of high school. Ed
sailed the seas becoming a lifelong patriot and machinist while in service to his country. After his
commitment to the Navy, Ed began working for Carroll Cable/General Cable where he worked
through to his retirement. Ed had a lifelong passion to make things work better! Whether it be a spark plug or a lawn chair, there was nothing that Ed could not improve on with wire or gorilla glue!
Ed loved to travel with his late wife Marie; his favorite trips including the Hoover Dam and Las Vegas. Snowmobiling and building trails with family in New Hampshire were cherished memories. Ed was a lifelong Red Sox and Patriots fan, always at the ready to watch, recall, or discuss any team or individual player’s game! He spent countless hours at the ballfields in
Bourne supporting Bourne Youth Baseball, always enjoying an ice cream sandwich at the snack bar!
Although Ed lived life on steady ground, he loved the ups and downs of the stock market, the casinos, and the lottery! Ed loved these “adventures” and was always eager to share information and pointers.
Ed is predeceased by his parents: Telesphore and Irene; his siblings: Albert Remy, Bertha Boyer, Rene Remy, Anita Francoeur Marshall, Andrew Remy; his beloved wife Marie, his stepson John, and his best friend Swift.
Ed is survived by his sister Bernadette Adam Rogers, brother Leon Remy, and sister Lorraine Remy; as well as many nieces and nephews. Edward leaves behind a collection of friends that consider Ed to be “family” including his friends and neighbors in Bourne, his best friends Geoffrey and John, his friends at Prosper Assisted Living; and in the final months of his life, the incredible health aids that brought him comfort and joy each day, and the VA and Kindred Hospice Teams that gave him comfort and care.
Committal service with military honors will be held Wednesday, November 9, at 12:45 P.M. at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. The funeral procession will be leaving the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 South Main St. Fall River at 11:30 A.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
