Edward L. Morin, 84, of Portsmouth, RI, formerly of Broadway, Fall River, husband of Noreen (Mendonca) Morin, died Tuesday, May 11, 2010. A Navy veteran of WW II, he was a member of the Fall River Police Department with 35 years of service as a detective and in the uniform division, retiring in 1986. A firearms marksman, he was a former member of the Fall River Rod and Gun Club and the Montaup Country Club and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, AmVets, Post 60 and the Fall River Boys Club Senior Division. He enjoyed handball, golf, fishing, swimming and was an avid reader. Besides his wife of 62 years, he leaves 2 daughters, Susan Couture and her husband Dominique of Portsmouth and Lisa Jaye Silva Furtado and her husband Roland of Rehoboth; grandchildren, Mathieu Couture, Justin Ryan Silva and Nicholas Adam Silva; great-grandchildren, Justin Ethan Silva and Melody Lynn Silva; a sister, Lorraine Larrivee of Portsmouth and nieces. He was the son of the late Leo and Gertrude (Berube) Morin. His funeral will be held Saturday at 8:00 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in Notre Dame Church at 9:00 AM. Burial private. Visitation, Friday 5:00 to 8:00 PM.
