Edward A. Martins

Edward A. Martins, 65, of Westport, formerly of Fall River, husband of Denise (Melanson) Martins of Westport and son of Lillian A. (Korzeniewski) Martins of Fall River, died Sunday, November 30, 2014. A graduate of UMass Dartmouth, he studied Marine Biology at Northeastern University and Bridgewater State College. A teacher for 35 years, he taught Science at Morton Middle School in Fall River and Marine Biology at Massachusetts Maritime Academy. A former chairman of the Westport Shellfish Advisory and the Westport Cable Advisory, he created the Westport Outdoors Cable Program. Besides his wife of 38 years and mother, he leaves three daughters, Sarah Martins of Quincy, MA, Becky Martins of New York, NY and Jen Martins of Westport; a sister, Lee Ann Compertore of Penfield, NY and nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Paul Martins. His funeral will be held Thursday at 8:30 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass at St. John the Baptist Church, Westport, at 10:00 AM. Burial, Beech Grove Cemetery. Visitation, Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.
