Edward H. Fitzgerald, FRPD (Ret.), 90, of Bay St., Fall River, husband of Suzanne (Beauparlant) Fitzgerald, died Saturday, August 14, 2010. An Army veteran of WW II, he was a 27 year member of the Fall River Police Department and the founder of the "Police K-9 Unit". He was passionate about his love of animals, especially dogs and parakeets. He loved to read, watch Fox News and was an avid Red Sox fan. Besides his wife of 68 years, he leaves, 3 children, retired MA State Police Lt., Patrick D. Fitzgerald and his wife Cassandra of Tiverton, RI, Shirley Olson and her husband Michael of Colorado Springs, CO, and Michael Fitzgerald and his wife Nancy of Fall River; grandchildren, Jeffrey Olson (wife Shanna), Carisa Fitzgerald, Patrick Fitzgerald (wife Ingrid) and Cass Fitzgerald (wife Jessica); great-grandchildren Colin, Ava and Dylan Fitzgerald, and nieces and nephews. He was the son of the late James and Delia (Desmarais) Fitzgerald and the brother of the late John and James Fitzgerald. His funeral will be held Wednesday at 8:00 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in Good Shepherd Church at 9:00 AM. Burial, Notre Dame Cemetery. Visitation, Tuesday, 4:00 to 7:00 PM. LARGE PARKING AREA and BARRIER-FREE ENTRANCE at the rear of funeral home.
