Edward J. "Joe" Costa

"Joe" Edward Joseph Costa, 93, was born January 26, 1924 in Fall River, MA and died peacefully on June 12, 2017 surrounded by loved ones.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Madeline (Grant) Costa and two children, Carol A. of York, ME, and Paul of Mystic, CT. His parents were Joseph E. Costa and Mary C. DeJesus of Funchal, Madeira and Fall River. His brother, William Costa of Westport, MA died in 1976.

A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Joe served as an aviation machinist in the Pacific during WWII, and a radio technician at the Naval Air Station in Norfolk, VA during the Korean Conflict. He was employed as a mechanic in several Fall River mills and held various positions at the U.S. Naval Station in Newport, RI.

His family and friends will remember him as a good man.

Calling hours will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. on Friday morning, June 16 at Auclair Funeral Home, 690 South Main St., Fall River, MA, with a Mass to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Parish, 951 Stafford Rd in Fall River. Burial will follow at St Patrick's Cemetery. Large parking area and barrier-free entrance at the rear of funeral home.

As an expression of sympathy in Joe's memory, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Veterans Outreach, 755 Pine St., Fall River MA 02720.
