Edna Shaker

Edna (Santerre) Shaker, 85, of Fall River, wife of the late Sam Shaker, passed away Monday, October 2, 2017, at Charlton Memorial Hospital.
She was formerly employed in the garment industry at Stella Anne Frocks. She enjoyed cooking for her family, playing cards, and visiting the casino. She most enjoyed visiting with her beloved grandchildren and her beautiful great grandchildren. The youngest of 11 children, many of her sisters would gather at her home for Sunday coffee or family holiday gatherings. In retirement Edna and Sam spent 7 years in Florida where they enjoyed visiting with Edna's niece Joan and her husband Bill Ryland as well as other snowbirds from Fall River.
She leaves two daughters, Karen Giglio (husband Frank) of Dartmouth, and Sandy Rezendes (husband Frank) of Fall River; and a sister, Jeannette Viveiros of Somerset. She also leaves her grandchildren: Tracy (Robinson) McGlinchey (husband Kevin) of Connecticut, Todd Robinson (wife Allison Glasgow) of New York, and Matthew Rezendes (wife Courtney) of Fall River. She was known as Sitto Edna to her four great grandchildren: Brynn, Griffin, and Carter McGlinchey, and Sam Robinson. Edna was the daughter of the late Edmund and Fabiola (Belanger) Santerre and the sister of the late Imelda Jewell, Olivine (Patsy) Fonseca, Diana Barboza, Emma Leite, Florence Almeida, Irene Ladeira, and Alphonse, Raymond, and Albert Santerre. She also leaves over 30 nieces and nephews.
The family offers special thanks to the caregivers at Sarah S. Brayton Nursing Center where Edna resided for 4 years following a debilitating stroke. Dr. Jaiganesh Dorai, and the nurses and hospice and palliative care staff at Charlton Memorial Hospital provided outstanding care and compassion for which the family is very grateful.
Her funeral will be held Saturday at 9:00 a.m.from Auclair Funeral Home, 690 S.Main St., Fall River with a funeral Mass at 10 a.m., in St.Anthony of the Desert Church, 300 N.Eastern Ave. Fall River.
Burial, St.Patrick Cemetery. Visitation Fridayfrom 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
