Dr. Charles Assad, of Cape Coral, FL, formerly of Westport and Fall River, MA, and Providence, RI, died September 8, 2017, after a long and courageous battle with Metastatic Prostate Cancer. He was the elder son of Johanna Assad and the late Aseeb "Charlie" Assad of Westport.
A graduate of Bishop Stang High School and the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, he earned his Ph.D. in clinical psychology at the University of Toledo and practiced in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Florida. He taught psychology as adjunct faculty at Bristol Community College, the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth, Rasmussen College, and Florida Southwest University.
Dr. Assad is survived by his mother; his brother, Attorney David M. Assad, and sister-in-law, April; his niece, Alissa Assad; his nephew, Samuel Assad; great-nephew, James; and a large extended family. He also leaves dear friends and colleagues in MA, RI and FL, and his beloved rescue dog, Lola. He was predeceased by his partner of 32 years, Michael Jankowski.
Family and friends are welcome to a Celebration of Life on Sunday, October 8, 2017, at 12:00 PM, at Calvary United Presbyterian Church, 216 Harrison Street, Fall River. Luncheon to follow.
