Doris (Gamelin) Messier

Doris (Gamelin) Messier, 86, of Somerset, wife of the late J. Vincent "Vinnie" Messier, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2017.

She enjoyed bowling, stitching, scrabble, gardening, loved her canine & feline companions, "Maggie", "Buzz", "Rocky" and "Zach", and was a St. Louis de France Parish Bingo volunteer. She was employed by the former Auerbach Robe Company many years ago. Her family will miss her stories and soup.

She leaves nine children, Richard Messier (Kathy) of Swansea, Donna Dumont (Ed Moreira) of Dartmouth, David Messier (Nancy) of Somerset, Marc Messier (Kate Morse) of Somerset, William "Vinny" Messier (Sandra) of Somerset, Susan Lorenz (Dr. Robert) of Dighton, Paula Cabral (Keith) of Fall River, James Messier (Debra) of Plympton and Peter Messier (Jennifer) of Somerset; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late John Messier and Ann Messier; the aunt and "adoptive mother" of the late Brian Lescault; the daughter of the late Aime and Marie Anna (Lavallee) Gamelin and the sister of the late Aime Gamelin, Rita Kelly, Lauretta Russo and Florence Lescault.

Her funeral will be held Saturday at 8:30 AM from the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass at St. Louis de France Church, Swansea, at 10:00 AM. Interment, St. Patrick Cemetery, Somerset.

Visitation, Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Large parking area & barrier-free entrance at the rear of funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105.
