Doris J. (Lapointe) LaChance, 81, of Maple Ave., Swansea, wife of Robert M. LaChance (former owner of Rudy's Country Store), died Tuesday, January 27, 2009.
A graduate of Dominican Academy, Class of 1945, she was born in Fall River and lived in Swansea for the past 54 years. A communicant of St. Dominic Church, she enjoyed spending time with family and playing cards.
Besides her husband of 58 years, she leaves 2 children, Robert M. LaChance, Jr. and his wife Jill of Dover, NH and Lisa A. Lopes and her husband Arthur of Easton, PA; 6 grandchildren, Brendan, Joshua and Cory Lopes of Easton and Colby, Samuel and Aubrie Lyn LaChance of Dover; a sister, Mrs. Paul (Georgette) deVillers of Westport, MA and many nieces and nephews.
She was the daughter of the late Isidore A. and Marie-Anne (Thibault) Lapointe and the sister of the late Mrs. John (Dorothy) Farrell, Mrs. Victor (Lorraine) Raposo and Mrs. Albert (Rita) Johnson.
Her funeral will be held Saturday at 9:00 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in Saint Anne Church at 10:00 AM. Entombment, Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum.
Visitation, Friday 4:00 to 8:00 PM. LARGE PARKING AREA and BARRIER-FREE ENTRANCE at the rear of funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations to Patient Activities Fund, Catholic Memorial Home, 2446 Highland Ave., Fall River MA 02720 would be appreciated.
