Doris (Martineau) Gavigan Auger, 93, of Dartmouth, formerly of Fall River and Somerset, died peacefully Monday, August 19, 2013. The wife of the late James T. Gavigan for 31 years and the late Raymond L. Auger for 29 years, she worked in the garment industry and was Housekeeping Department Supervisor at the former Truesdale Hospital. She was a Red Sox and tennis fan. She leaves 4 children, Col. David W. Gavigan, USA, Ret. and his wife Susan of Kingston, MA, Michael J. Gavigan and his wife Diane of Somerset and Stephen J. Gavigan and Doreen A. Gavigan Rose and her husband Anthony, all of Dartmouth; grandchildren, Kevin and Kristen Rose, Stephen, Leigh and David Gavigan, Marybeth Stearns, Ann Marie Gavigan and Caroline Wilson-Gavigan; a stepson, Col. William Auger, USAF of Maryland; 6 great-grandchildren; siblings, Betty Heywood of Fall River, Germaine Ronka of California and Roland J. Martineau of Swansea and nieces and nephews. She was the grandmother of the late Kathleen Gavigan; the daughter of the late William J. and Aurore (Legault) Martineau and the sister of the late Joseph Martineau, Edna Dumas and Theresa Normandin.
