Diane J. Souza

Diane J. (Ouellette) Souza, 86, of Tiverton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 25, 2025. Diane was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of all who knew her. She was the wife of the late Alvarin Souza. 

Born on April 27, 1938, in Fall River, Massachusetts, Diane was the daughter of the late Alfred and Anita (Gauvin) Ouellette. 

Throughout her life, Diane found joy in simple pleasures. She was an avid crocheter, often crafting beautiful pieces that brought warmth and comfort to her family. Her passion for word search puzzles provided her with countless hours of enjoyment, allowing her to engage her mind and share laughter with loved ones. Shopping was another of her delights, a pastime she often enjoyed with family members, making cherished memories along the way.

Diane was deeply committed to her family, taking great pride in raising her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her nurturing spirit and unwavering support were the backbone of her family's closest ties. She will be remembered for her unwavering love and the countless ways she enriched her family's lives.

Diane is survived by her sons, Dennis Souza (life partner Karen) of Johnston RI; (former wife Linda) of Smithfield, RI; David Souza (wife Teresa) of Tiverton, RI; Bruce Souza (wife Marienne) of Vermont; and Marcus Costa (husband David) of Fall River. She was also the proud grandmother of Stephen Souza (wife Jackie), Meagan-Anne Hill (husband William), Joshua Souza, Tobias Souza, Sarah Souza, and Ainerose Souza. Diane cherished her role as a great-grandmother to Stephen Michael Souza Jr., Mason William Hill, Myles David Hill, and Racquel Marie Souza. Diane is also survived by her sister Cecile Knight, niece Debi Knight; Nephew /Godson Raymond Knight (wife Nancy, son Steven), and several other nieces and nephews; and her cat, Otis. 

Preceding her in death were her granddaughter Kelly Tate and her siblings: Roger Ouellette, Roland Ouellette, Rita Demeo, Theresa Blanchard, Alfred Ouellette, and Donald Ouellette; Brother-in-Law Raymond Knight Sr., nephew Steven Knight; and her longtime companion, Raymond Massey. Each of them left a mark on Diane’s heart and will be lovingly remembered.

As we celebrate the life of Diane J. Souza, we reflect on a woman of strength, love, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her legacy will live on in the hearts and memories of those she leaves behind.

A Graveside Service will take place on Saturday February 8th, at 11:00 A.M. at, Pocasset Hill Cemetery, Main Road, Tiverton, RI.
