SSgt. Daniel M. Hyland, USAF, 42, husband of Corsie (Teixeira) Hyland of Third St., Fall River and son of William and Margaret "Maggie" (Walsh) Hyland of Tiverton, died Thursday, April 16, 2009.
He served in the Massachusetts Army National Guard for 14 years and in the Air Force for the past 8 years, recently completing a tour of duty in Iraq.
A musician, blues lover and self taught guitar player, he especially enjoyed playing with his friends at "open mikes" and "jam sessions" and will be remembered as a truly kind and generous man who possessed a wonderful sense of humor. He was a member of the Corky Row Club.
Besides his wife and parents he leaves, a son, Daniel W. Hyland of Fall River; siblings, Colleen Hyland of Swans Island, Maine and Beverly Farms, MA and David Hyland and Maureen Rawson, both of Tiverton; stepchildren, Antonio, Jordan and Katie DoMonte, all of Fall River: aunts and uncles; nieces and nephews including Christopher Rawson of Tiverton and PFC Deirdre M. Cook, USA of Bamberg, Germany and his mother-in-law, Mrs. Henry (Mary) Teixeira of Fall River.
His funeral will be held Tuesday at 10:00 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass at Saints Peter and Paul Parish at Holy Cross Church at 11:00 AM. Burial, Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
Visitation, Monday 5:00 to 8:00 PM. LARGE PARKING AREA and BARRIER-FREE ENTRANCE at the rear of funeral home. Donations to Veterans Outreach, 755 Pine St., Fall River MA 02720 would be appreciated.
