Constance (Botelho) Hamel

Constance (Botelho) Hamel, RN, 95, formerly of Tiverton, passed away Thursday, August 17, 2023. She was the wife of the late J. Richard Hamel.

Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Florence (Sargent) Botelho.

She was a graduate of Durfee High School Class of 1945. Constance then attended Saint Anne’s Hospital School of Nursing and graduated from there in 1949.

Constance worked as a Registered Nurse at Union Hospital and also as a Visiting Nurse for the Fall River Visiting Nurse Association for many years. When she wasn’t working, she really enjoyed going to the casino.

She is survived by her daughter, Paula Shaker; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her children, the late Barbara Jeanne Ferreira and David R. Hamel, and her brother, the late William Botelho.

Her committal service at Notre Dame Cemetery was private.
