Claire M. (Doucet) St. Amour, 96, of Fall River, passed away on May 28, 2023. She was the wife of Albert L. “Gus” St. Amour. The daughter of the late Armand and Albina (Gauthier) Doucet, she was born in New Bedford, and moved to Fall River after her marriage.
Claire attended Holy Family High School in New Bedford, MA and worked in several office positions before her marriage. She worked for White’s of Westport for over 30 years as a waitress and banquet worker. She was a co-owner of Robert’s House of Bridals in Taunton, MA for more than seven years.
Claire and Albert “Gus” met at Lincoln Park like many other couples who would regularly go to Lincoln Park to dance. Claire and Gus danced together every chance they got. They turned out to be wonderful dancers.
Another shared activity was bowling. Claire and Gus were excellent bowlers and spent several nights a week for many years with their respective bowling leagues.
She leaves three children, Richard (wife Susan Hinchcliffe), Suzanne (husband Dennis Almeida) and Michele Buchanan (late husband Kevin), five grandchildren, one great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by brothers Armand and Ernest “Bucky”, and sisters Elaine Mello and Georgette Kirby.
A visitation will be held Sunday, June 4, 2023 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 So.Main St. Fall River. Burial will be private.
