Claire Melanson

Claire (Berard) Melanson, R.N., 84, of Fall River, widow of Normand J. "Nap" Melanson, passed away on Monday, October 9, 2017. A registered nurse, she had been employed by St.Anne's Hospital, Fall River Public Schools Title One Program. She was a vocational education teacher at Durfee High School and an instructor at B.C.C. for 3 years..
She was a graduate of St.Anne's Hospital School of Nursing class of 1954 and Rhode Island College class of 1975. She served as past president of Fall River Garden Club and was a member of Niagara Neighborhood Assn., Save Our Neighborhoods, and Fall River Tree Planting Committee. Claire volunteered at the Frank M. Silvia School.
She was the mother of Therese Cabral and Jacqueline Thran (husband late William) all of Fall River and Jeannine Joseph (husband Thomas) of Little Compton and the late Albert E. Melanson (wife Kathy Melanson LePage of Somerset) a sister, Annette Couture of Maine;
7 grandchildren, Amy Mauricio (husband Brian), Sheena Golden (husband Glen), William Thran, Timothy Thran (wife Suzanne), Jeffrey Cabral (wife Danielle), Julie Cabral and Cassey LePage; 4 great-grandchildren, Spencer and Riley Golden, Elin and Callie Mauricio; nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Therese, Charles, Edward, Paul and Jacqueline Berard and the daughter of the late Edward and Annette (Remillard) Berard.
Her funeral will be held Thursday at 9:00 a.m. from Auclair Funeral Home, 690 S.Main St.Fall River with a funeral mass in Holy Trinity Church, at 10:00 a.m.
Burial, Notre Dame Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Large parking area/barrier-free entrance to rear of funeral home.
