Ciro A. Ciavatta, Sr. 80, of Highland Ave, Fall River, died Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at Brandon Woods of New Bedford. He was the former husband of Geraldine Ciavatta. Born in Providence, the son of the late Giuseppe and Maria (Costabile) Ciavatta, he lived in Providence most of his life. Mr. Ciavatta was an Army veteran of World War Two, and was awarded the Parachutist Badge, , SS Rifle, 1st CL Gunner and Combat Infantry Badge. He served in the Rhineland campaign and earned several decorations and citations, including the Army of Occupation Medal of Japan, Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon and the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon. He enjoyed trips to the Taunton-Raynham Dog Track. Besides his former wife, his survivors include 2 sons, Ciro A. Ciatatta, Jr. and his wife Susan of Fall River, William "Billy" Ciavatta of East Providence, a daughter, Cynthia Ciavatta and her husband Ralph of Rhode Island. 3 brothers, Almando Ciavatta of New Jersey, Al Ciavatta of Las Vegas, Nevada and Silvio Ciavatta of Rhode Island, 2 granddaughters, Marissa Ciavatta and Cierra Lynn Ciavatta, and nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Vincent Ciavatta. Private arrangements are with the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 South Main St. Fall River, MA
