Charles A. Pelissier

July 14, 1931 — July 24, 2019

Charles A. Pelissier, age 88, husband of Rita P. (Gagne) Pelissier, father of Michael Pelissier of Somerset, MA.

He was the eldest son of the late Charles A. Pelissier, Sr. and the late Eva Rose (LaPierre) Pelissier; the brother of Raymond (wife Anita), Normand, Paul, Albert (wife Pat) Claire Ruggiero and the late Jeanne Holden.  He attended MSGR Prevost High School, 1946 and 1947, graduated from BMC Durfee High School Class of 1949.

He graduated from RI College of Pharmacy Class of 1954 and was registered as a Pharmacist in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and North Carolina.  He was Director of Pharmacy Services, 1956 through 1962 at former Union Hospital (now Charlton Memorial Hospital division of SouthCoast Hospitals).

He worked part-time at several pharmacies in Fall River, Raleigh, NC, and in Providence, RI.  He retired after 30 years in 1992 from Burroughs Wellcome Co. as a Senior Executive Sales Representative and Marketing Executive at the company's home offices in Raleigh, NC.

He served as Vice-President and Horace Viau Honoree and the Editor of the "Bulletin) of the Richelieu Club in Fall River, Vice President of Council 442 of Union Saint-Jean Baptiste, was a former member of the Advisory Board and also a member of Finance Committee at St. Louis de France Church at which he also served in various other capacities including Parish Coordinator for Diocesan Catholic Citizenship, a Greeter at Masses as part of the Parish Hospitality Committee, a collector at Mass and a Captain in the Royal Century Club.

Mr. Pelissier was a secretary of l'Association Canado-Americaine, a member of the Franco-American Civic League of Fall River, a member of l'Association Francophone de Fall River, Vice President of the Over The Hill Gang, and a member of the Gentlemens' First Friday Club.

Charlie was formerly active in several pharmaceutical organizations including the Massachusetts Society of Hospital Pharmacists and the RI Society of Hospital Pharmacists.

He volunteered his services to many charitable organizations and was an active computer enthusiast. At one time he was an avid golfer as well as a chess devotee who led the chess team at the College of Pharmacy.

His funeral will be held Monday at 9:00 AM from the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a Funeral Mass at St. Louis de France Church, Swansea at 10:00 AM. Interment, Notre Dame Cemetery.

A visitation will be held Sunday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.        In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude PL, Memphis, TN, 38105. The family would like to thank Southcoast Center for Cancer at Charlton, for their excellent care.
