Charles A. "Charlie" Gardella

Charles A. "Charlie" Gardella, 91, of Catholic Memorial Home, Fall River, formerly of Somerset, husband of the late Margaret "Peg" (Kirby) Gardella, died Tuesday, July 24, 2012. A Navy veteran of WW II, he was Past Commander of American Legion Post 303. He was an American Red Cross Regional Manager, National Disaster Specialist and volunteer and a Life Member of the Swansea Police Association and Somerset Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was the father of Charles A. "Chuck" Gardella, Jr. (wife Donna) of Little Compton and the late Corporal William K. Gardella, USMC (killed in action in Vietnam); the grandfather of Angeline Gardella; the son of the late Steven and Hannah (Flaherty) Gardella; and also leaves brothers and sisters. His funeral mass will be held Thursday at 9:30 AM in the Chapel of Catholic Memorial Home. Burial, St. Patrick Cemetery. Visitation, Thursday morning prior to the mass from 8:30 to 9:30 AM at the Catholic Memorial Home.
