Carlos Vieira Chaves, age 85 of Berkley, passed away peacefully in Fall River on September 26, 2022, with family by his side. He was the former husband of Jeannette (Whittle) Campos.
Carl was born on May 21, 1937, in Fernais da Luz, county of Ponta Delgado, Sao Miguel, Acores, Portugal. He was the son of the late John Medeiros Chaves and Maria Anjos (Vieira) Chaves. Brother to the late John Chaves and Joseph Chaves both of Fall River. He was the former co-owner of F&F Braid Company, B&J Sales Import and Export, and Teddy Bears Infants Wear in Fall River. Involved with the New England Fishing Industry. Enjoyed his younger years working on his farm in Berkley with his children and many animals. He enjoyed cooking Portuguese food, all the sweet treats, and spending time with his loving family. An avid New York Yankees, New England Patriots, and Boston Celtics Fan. He could always be found with a hot coffee from Dunkin. He was a long time member of the Border City Club and the Republican Club on North Main Street in Fall River.
He leaves behind his son Michael Chaves and wife Stephanie Chaves, daughter Deborah Chaves and husband Victorino Chaves, son Carl J. Chaves and wife Traci-anne Chaves, son Mark Chaves and husband JR Santos, and was the father of the late Edward Reynolds. He was the grandfather to eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren and one on the way, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will be missed by those who were blessed to know and love him.
Calling hours will be held Thursday September 29, 2022, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 South Main Street in Fall River. A Funeral service will be held Friday September 30, 2022, at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with calling hours prior from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
Food and refreshments to be served following the funeral service at the Fall River Lodge of Elks, 4500 North Main Street, Fall River.
Private burial to follow at a later date.
