Candido "Candy" DaSilva, 85, of Fall River, husband of Maria (Martins) DaSilva, died peacefully at home Saturday, November 2, 2013, surrounded by his loving family and friends, after a long illness. Born in Goaes, Amares, Lisbon, Portugal, the son of the late Adelino and Ermelinda (Pinheiro) DaSilva, he came to the United States, becoming a citizen in 1955. A meat cutter his whole life, he was employed by various supermarkets including New England Poultry and Stop & Shop, retiring from Food Mart in 1990. Besides his wife of 58 years, he leaves 2 children, Joyce Goncalves and her husband Bento of Fall River and Kenneth DaSilva, Sr. and his wife Debora of Somerset; grandchildren, Eric Goncalves and Kenneth DaSilva, Jr. both of Fall River, Caryn (DaSilva) Moniz and her husband Carlos of Westport, MA, Kristina DaSilva of Somerset and Susan Lee Carvalho of Dartmouth, MA; great-grandchildren, Zoe-Lynn DaSilva, Jacob Moniz and Dakota James Newbury; siblings, Luisa Pereira of Fall River and Maria Rosa DaSilva and Jose DaSilva both of Portugal and nieces and nephews. His funeral will be held Tuesday at 9:00 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass at Good Shepherd Church at 10:00 AM. Burial, St. Patrick Cemetery. Visitation, Monday 4:00 to 8:00 PM. LARGE PARKING AREA and BARRIER-FREE ENTRANCE at the rear of funeral home.
