Aseeb S. "Charlie" Assad, 87, of State Rd., Westport, formerly of Quequechan St., Fall River, husband of Johanna (Assad) Assad, died Friday, August 24, 2007. The son of the late Saleem "Sam" and Lulu (Milan) Assad, he lived in Westport for the past 50 years. As an employee of Stone and Webster Engineering, he was involved in the construction of Somerset's New England Power Plant. Upon completion of construction, he was hired as a member of the inaugural employee group of that Plant and was employed there until his retirement. An Army Air Corps veteran of WW II in the China-Burma-India (CBI) Theater, he served with the "Flying Tigers", the 23rd Fighter Group of the 74th Fighter Squadron. Besides his wife of 59 years he is survived by 2 sons, Dr. Charles Assad of Providence, RI and Cape Coral, FL and Attorney David M. Assad and his wife Attorney April Saber-Assad of Fall River; grandchildren, Samuel Saber Assad and Alissa N. Assad and siblings, Nan Assad of Somerset and Sader "Suds" Assad of Westport. He was the brother of the late Kalile "Nanny" Assad, Sophie T. Assad, Nancy Mendoza and Henry Assad. His funeral will be held Monday at 10:00 AM in St. Anthony of the Desert Church and relatives and friends are invited to go directly to the church. Burial, Notre Dame Cemetery. Visitation in the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, Sunday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. PORTICO, LARGE PARKING AREA & BARRIER-FREE ENTRANCE at the rear of funeral home.
