Arthur J. Maitland

Arthur J. Maitland, 87, of Somerset, died Thursday, September 13, 2012 at home. He was the husband of the late Celia (Lima) Maitland. He was employed by the Mass. Highway Dept. A Navy veteran of WWII, he enjoyed traveling and dancing with his wife. He played Santa for the Somerset library and area nursing homes. Survivors include a nephew, Steven Lempke (wife Theresa) of Somerset, a niece Karen Cooper (husband Cleone) of Florida; great nieces and nephews, Amanda Sanner (husband Ronald), of Somerset, Adam Lempke (wife Laura), Thomaston, ME, Susan Brown, Theresa Schultz (husband David), Linda DaSilva; and several great-great nieces and nephews, who loved him dearly. He was the son of the late Christopher and Mildred (Holmes) Maitland and the brother of the late Charles, John, Frank and Roy Maitland, Iola Purcell Mary Sniezek. His funeral will be held Monday at 9:00 A.M. from AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St. Fall River, with a funeral mass in St. Patrick Church, Somerset, at 10:00 A.M. Burial to follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River. Visitation Monday morning from 8:00 to 9:00 A.M.
