Arthur R. "Ricky" Borges

Arthur R. "Ricky" Borges, 84, of Westport, formerly of Fall River, died at home, Saturday, May 8, 2010, his family by his side. He and his wife, Ruth E. (Chmura) Borges, would have been married 56 years on May 15. A Marine Corps veteran of WW II, he served in Okinawa and was a Purple Heart Medal recipient. He was employed by Setter Corp., Boston. A Red Sox fan, he played baseball in his youth, enjoyed gardening and the White Mountains of New Hampshire and cherished time spent with his family. He was studying to become a Jehovah's Witness. Besides his wife he leaves a daughter, Donna Borges Cordeiro and her husband Daniel A. Cordeiro, Sr.; a granddaughter, Erika Amaral and her husband Eric and a great-granddaughter, Hannah Amaral, all of Fall River and nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. He was the son of the late Francisco and Eliza (Texeira) Borges and the brother of the late Mary Couto, Aldina Oliveira and Irene, Joseph, Johnny and Frank Borges. A service will be held Wednesday at 11:30 AM in the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River. Cremation to follow. Visitation, Wednesday morning prior to the service from 9:00 to 11:30 AM.
